  • Is your supplier equipped to support the ink chemistry and the hardware together, since the two aren't really separable in a digital system?

That last point matters more than people expect. A water-based ink system is only as good as the consumables supply and service behind it, which is a conversation worth having with your supplier before the investment, not after.
