Textile Screen Printing Inks — Wilflex & Permaset | Kissel+Wolf Australia

Wilflex by Avient · Permaset by Colormaker

Textile Screen Printing Inks

Plastisol and water-based ink systems for every fabric you print on — with the specifications you need to choose correctly the first time. Supported by specialists across Australia and New Zealand.

01

Start with the fabric

Ink choice follows the substrate, not the other way around. Dye migration, stretch and adhesion behave differently on every fibre — find your fabric below and work outward from there.

100% Cotton

No dye migration
Start with this white
  • Epic Echo Cotton White
  • Epic Shock LC White
  • Epic Olympia Plus White
Then these colours
  • Epic Rio Mixing System
  • Epic Standard Range

Cotton whites carry no bleed-resistant additives, so they are typically the best value. Echo resists hot shear-down on long wet-on-wet runs; Shock LC cures lower for a softer hand.

Watch forCotton holds moisture and takes longer to reach cure temperature than polyester. Slow the belt rather than raising the dryer temperature.

Poly/Cotton Blends

Moderate bleed risk
Start with this white
  • Epic Bolt LC White
  • Epic Quick White
  • Epic Amazing Bright Tiger White
Then these colours
  • Epic Rio Mixing System
  • Epic PF Colour System

Bolt LC gives low-cure opacity on blends. Quick White is the fast-flash production choice. Bright Tiger is the creamy, press-stable option favoured for manual printing.

Watch forPre-test for ghosting on garments with certain dyes. Avoid stacking prints while still hot.

100% Polyester

High dye migration risk
Start with this white
  • Epic Performance LC White
  • Epic PolyWhite LC
  • Epic Single LC White
Then these colours
  • Epic Rio Mixing System

Low cure chemistry is the primary defence. Curing at 130–138°C rather than 160–170°C substantially reduces the energy driving dyes out of the fabric and into the ink film.

Watch forWhere migration is aggressive, lay down Epic Armor LC Gray as a blocker underbase before the white.

Spandex, Lycra & Performance

High risk + stretch demand
Start with this white
  • Epic Performance LC White
Then these colours
  • Epic Rio over Epic Stretch Base

Performance LC White combines best-in-class bleed resistance with ultra-stretch across a wide temperature range. Works as an underbase or a hi-lite white on polyester, triblends, Lycra/spandex blends and nylon jersey.

Watch forPair with Epic Stretch Base for colours that need to elongate without cracking.

Heat Transfers

Reverse print process
Start with this white
  • Epic Transflex Super White
Then these colours
  • Epic PC Express over Transflex Base

Transfer whites print last over the design, becoming the garment-side layer once heat applied. Suits hot-split and hot/cold-peel transfers with clean release.

Watch forEpic Transflex Printable Adhesive is required for transfer construction. Adhesive powder is available for DTF work.

Eco / Organic Requirements

Solvent free
Start with this white
  • PERMASET Supercover First Down White
Then these colours
  • PERMASET Aqua
  • PERMATONE

Where a customer needs Oeko-Tex certification, organic fabric compatibility or a genuinely soft hand, water-based is the answer. PERMATONE passed Oeko-Tex Class 1 with 60% to spare.

Watch forStencils must be water resistant, fully dried and fully cured. Use a water-resistant emulsion.

02

White inks

There is no magic in a bucket. Different fabrics demand different whites, which is why the Wilflex range is built around substrate rather than a single compromise product. Work out what the fabric needs, then choose from that group.

Cotton Whites

100% cotton whites engineered for brightness, value and resistance to hot shear-down on long production runs.

Epic Echo Cotton White

Enquire

Value cotton white that resists hot shear-down and holds a clean white point through long wet-on-wet runs.

Epic Bolt LC White

Enquire

Versatile low-cure white with great opacity for blended fabrics and reduced energy use. Fast flashing with fast print strokes, suiting high-production shops. Holds detail for fine mesh halftone work as well as standing alone on vector graphics.

04

Colour mixing systems

Three routes to a matched PANTONE. Rio is ready-to-mix with the highest opacity and lowest cure. PC Express gives you pigment concentrates to pair with whichever base the job needs. PF is ready-for-use and generally the most economical.

Low cure · Ready to mix

Epic Rio Mixing System

Premium low-cure, highly opaque, no additional base required

Enquire

Migration
Excellent dye migration resistance
  • Ready-to-mix — no separate base required, unlike the PC system
  • Opacity gets you to colour faster on finer mesh, saving ink and time
  • Creamy consistency, press ready on manual or automatic
  • Consistent colour to colour and batch to batch, short run or long
  • Suits 100% cotton, 100% polyester, triblends and blends

TipAim for an EOM (emulsion over mesh) of 15–20% for spot colour, 10–15% for halftones.

NoteRio is not a low-bleed ink. When printing as a first down, a low cure temperature is required to minimise dye migration.

Flash & cure reference

Cure is a function of time and temperature together, not temperature alone. The entire ink film must reach the stated temperature — a surface reading from an infrared gun will mislead you.

PERMASET Supercover160°C120–180 seconds; always wash test

Getting cure rightCotton holds moisture and heats more slowly than polyester, so it needs more dwell time at the same temperature. Run the belt slower at a lower temperature rather than pushing the dryer hotter — that protects the fabric, controls dye migration and uses less energy. Verify with a thermoprobe placed in the wet ink film, and wash test before committing to production.
